I was blessed by Ms. Shana Falana’s music yesterday at Trash Bar, located at 256 Grand St. between Driggs and Roebling in Brooklyn. After a gritty rainy night, I was expecting to see music reflecting the environment. Instead, I entered a tranquil dream.
Shalana’s music mixes genres like grudge (my fav!), alternative, ambient and psychedelic rock . Along with blessing your ears, she treats your eyes to kick ass visuals. Ms. Falana is definitely a rare breed, her music is the definition of divinity.
“I feel like I ‘channel’ music…That music I make is healing in a way, and [supports] the feminine which is often regarded as ‘uncool’. I really think that people need it…the feminine and healing” She even joked saying, “However writing about healing can sound terrible!”. Although it may be terrible, I have complete confidence that whatever Ms. Falana writes about will be just as enlightening and beautiful as her sound.
Shana Falana has been playing music for almost 20 years (Congrats on sticking with your passion!) and currently lives in Rosendale, New York. Not to worry folks, she will be driving 2 hours to play at the following venues, so be sure to see her play!
06/03/11: K&M Bar located on 225 N 8th St (between Hinckley Pl & Turner Pl) Brooklyn, NY 11211
06/13/11: Goodbye Blue Monday located on 1087 Broadway Brooklyn, NY 11221
06/30/11: Peter’s Candy Store located on 709 Lorimer Street Brooklyn, NY 11211
Shana Falana is also on Reverbnation, Myspace, EPK, Twitter, and YouTube.
